Abhyanga & Herbal Tea Ritual
The luteal phase – your inner autumn – is a time of slowing down, turning inward, and releasing what no longer serves you. Just as the waning moon fades into darkness, your body asks for gentleness, grounding, and care.
Abyanga is an ancient Ayurvedic practice of warm oil self-massage, known for calming the nervous system, supporting circulation, and bringing balance to body and mind.
This self-massage and tea ritual helps you soften into rest, soothe your nervous system, and honor your body’s need for comfort. By nourishing yourself with touch and herbs, you create space for clarity, emotional balance, and ease.
✦ 1. Warm your oil
Gently heat sesame or almond oil (place bottle in hot water). Whisper: “This is my love medicine.”
✦ 2. Self-love massage (Abhyanga)
Massage oil slowly into your skin, starting from the crown of your head down to your toes. Move with long strokes over limbs, circular strokes over joints and belly. Let each touch say: “I honor you.”
✦ 3. Herbal tea preparation
Choose herbs that soothe body & womb: fennel, chamomile, ginger, cinnamon, lemon balm, or lavender. As the tea steeps, breathe in the aroma as if it melts tension from within.
✦ 4. Sip with presence
Sit wrapped in a blanket. Hold the warm cup in both hands. As you sip, imagine the herbs dissolving cramps and stress, weaving calm into your belly.
✦ 5. Closing the ritual
Place your hands on your womb. Whisper:✨ “I am nourished. I am at peace. I soften into rest.”
